My name is Ronn Alex Abrugena and I have been studying Communication Design for at least couple of years, learning and developing multiple techniques to create a variety of works. I enjoy working from briefs and obtaining different skills in AUT. But as a designer I want to expand my world, to challenge myself and work with both creators and clients. I want to experience new things to develop my creativity and create works that will one day move others.
I believe that design is more than just pretty pictures or fancy graphics. Design is a bridge that makes communicating ideas to people easier. Our goal as designers is to help present our ideas or the ideas of others properly to other people out there. Either to convince, reinforce or inform the community about how they should see a certain products, styles and more.
I was born in the Philippines and moved to New Zealand at the age of twelve. Currently I can barely speak tagalog but I can communicate in english very well. I am not afraid to ask for help when in trouble and willing to listen to criticism and advice would open ears because I believe I am extremely inexperienced when it comes to the field. But that does not stop from voicing my ideas because I always want to try and contribute especially when working with others. I want to continue to improve and learn more and being with others is the easiest way to improve my work and also gain more inspiration.
My dream is one day to create something similar to Disney. Not the way they animate films but the way it affected my childhood. I want to be able create works that can speak to many in a motivation way. To create works that instill dreams to others the same way I was from theirs. It does not to be a film, whether through photography or skits, painting or posters. The method and media does not matter as long as I can accomplish something more personal with the audience.
